Therapy for Children and Teens

Helping kids connect, advocate, and manage stress in their lives.

Play Therapy

Play is the communication tool that children use to express themselves, just as many adults process their world through language in therapy. It is also a way to build skills (emotional expression, regulation, attention/executive functioning skills, problem-solving, ideation, frustration tolerance, impulse control, the list goes on!). When used thoughtfully, play can be a means of understanding your world and acquiring the skills you need to navigate everyday life. I have additional training and experience working with young children and preschoolers (ages 3-5).

For a lot of children, it can be hard to tolerate the frustration of not getting things right. They may perceive challenges as insurmountable and give up before they have even tried. By building a growth mindset, we are prioritizing resilience.

For the past ten years, I have been a psychologist in private practice and therapeutic schools throughout New York City. I provide inclusive therapy for children and teens, including those dealing with anxiety, neurodivergent individuals, and those with gender-expansive identities.

Anxiety and Perfectionism

I use a combination of talk and CBT therapy to help children and teens manage their anxiety and take-charge of their own personal goals.

Autism

I enjoy helping Autistic individuals recognize their unique strengths and make sure their environment highlights them. I support children and teens to improve their social functioning, cognitive flexibility, and emotional regulation skills by individualizing aspects of the Social Thinking and Zones of Regulation programs to their needs.

Gender Identity

It's a joy to share in the journey of gender identity exploration. I help children and teens develop insight into the many parts of their identity.

ADHD

I use a combination of talk therapy and executive functioning coaching to support the underlying lagging skills of children and teens with ADHD.

Individualized Social Stories

A woman sits at a desk, resting her head on her hand, with thought bubbles around her showing children shouting "STOP!", "Not that sound again," "That would be funny, but it’s out of context," "I don’t want to get in trouble," "I can’t think about my work," and a speech bubble next to her saying "HWIZAHAYA." The image has a humorous tone about children's noise and the woman's thoughts.
